Rutherford Exposed: The Story of Berta and Bonnie (redux)
by Leolaia inin september 2004, farkel posted an article on this forum called "rutherford exposed: the story of berta and bonnie.
" his essay, which subsequently was translated into several languages and which received over 10,000 views after the first month, spawned a thread that ran 28 pages and contained the collaborative research efforts of many in jwd.
this thread was thought by some moderators to be the best in the forum -- not necessarily because of the claims in the original essay but because it inspired a staggering amount of research aimed at assessing the credibility of the claims made in the essay, as well as adding to our knowledge of this fascinating yet obscure chapter of watchtower history.

Wasn't this in the "Best Of" for awhile? I remember reading it when I first got on the board. Anyways I really dig the Rutherford keg picture. Sorry but he just looks damn cool in it. I don't care how mean or what he setup...the hat the lean damn exuding coolness.

a legal battle is looming over riverside county's need to protect children, and people's right to practice religion without government intrusion.
a prosecutor wants leaders of a jehovah's witnesses congregation to testify about what a murrieta man accused of molesting two girls told them.

Usually I try not to be too critical, but I got 20 bucks that says this guy goes to the public hospital when he gets injured and doesn't pay a dime. Also it's the same old story told over and over again, the Witnesses are afraid of loosing a small amount of money so they get one lone person to sue the government to make it look like their religion is the minority, smart but a little petty. I can understand why they are afraid of the waterfall that could come from this.

Watchtower 2008 dumb logic= "Belief in evolution makes you an orphan."
by Witness 007 inwatch, feb 1 2008 p.4 "if we really are the product of evolution and there is no creator, the human race would in a sense, be an orphan.
mankind would have no source of superior wisdom to consult- no one to help us solve our problems.
we would have to rely on human wisdom to avert enviromental disaster, to solve political conflicts, and to guide us through our personal crises.

Uhhhh..... don't we rely on man for all of that stuff?

Memorial at the nicest country club in the area!
by Burger Time inmy brother informed me over the weekend that in gastonia nc the memorial for their congregation is going to be held at the nicest country club in gastonia.
in fact a lot of local celebrities live there including sherry from the nationally syndicated radio show bob & sherry.
a good bit of people are upset at this, as it's out of the way and a bit hard to find.

Someone tried to rob me at a bus stop last year. I was able to chase him off, but that's about as close as I've come outside of having stuff stolen that shouldn't have been out in the first place. Uh and I wanted to add that yea, South Africa is pretty freaking hardcore compared to most places in America.

The reason it's being done is because I think three congregations meet there so there just isn't enough room or time to have it at the original hall.OTWO, first of all I don't care much about it, just that it's causing a lot of fuss in the local hall. It could cause a minor scandal...thus the post in the Scandal section. I don't think people care much that a facility is being rented as they are renting the nicest most prominent facility in the area. What kind of message can you honestly send telling people to be poor and that rich people are essentially evil when your meeting in something that exudes such "negative" qualities? I think that's why so many people care and it's causing a fuss.
